“Cheramis”

I’m glad that I still remember the significance of this day and find time to keep in touch with each of my girl friends… it’s the “Cheramis” 13th anniversary an occasion to commemorate our friendship. Exactly thirteen years ago, our favorite Salesian sister who is our constant spiritual adviser named our group ‘cher ami’, a French word for ‘dear friend’… way back high school we were tagged and known all over the campus for this name which we later pronounced ‘cheramis’. We are six in the circle and I remember how inseparable we were even outside the campus… high school graduation day made our path separated especially when we faced the tough College life… and the more when we trekked the professional/career life… and up to the biggest stepping stone of getting engaged, and getting married. Two of us get married, two are outside the country and the other two are so much in love!

But despite of so many storms and challenges we faced, and even how seldom we bond and see each other lately… one thing for sure, the friendship is still alive. I miss all of them and I’m looking forward for another bonding moments with the ‘cheramis’.

JK Weding Entrance Dance

As part of my occasion watch this weekend, I am surprised when I got up early this morning and found out what is in Yahoo’s frontpage… the now very popular “JK Wedding Entrance Dance”, that hits 3.5 million and counting views in YouTube. Yes, it might be funny and unique way of making the occasion unforgettable, but one thing that came to my mind easily is that, the solemnity of the wedding ceremony is gone… I thought having this kind of wedding entrance will be reserved during the wedding entrance in the reception hall. But well, at the end of the day, the conclusion is: it all depends to the couple’s way of expressing their occasion to make it memorable, it’s their special occasion anyway!

My Grandpa turns 80

I have to ask permission to the COO of the company for an undertime of 3 hours from work today so I can attend my Lolo’s 80th birthday and persuade my hubby to file undertime too so we can both go. This is an important and special occasion to me as his ‘apo’ because I care for him so much and I’m happy that he reached this age. Yes, my lolo is already old but despite of his age, he still keeps on preaching the word of God thru a bible study that is usually held in his place, I admire him for this apostolic act and he remains to be an adviser of the lay ministers in the parish. He used to preach the bible in the mountain part of our province but since it is too risky for his age now to go in those places, his doctor advises him to stay home but the whole family is all-out support for his apostolic activity and suggested to hold it at home instead. I believe activity like this makes my Lolo strong and live his life to the fullest.

His wish is simple and that is to see his children and dozens of ‘apos’ join him on this occasion – his 80th birthday. Another wish is to be able to invite all the people who usually attend his bible study. And for this, it means the family should prepare a big birthday celebration to accommodate these visitors even if he did not ask us to do so… and everyone in the family contributes and has its share for the celebration, just so to make this occasion special and unforgettable for him.

I bring him a cake and when I arrived, I asked everybody to sing a Happy Birthday and my 80 yr old Lolo blows his candle, without making a wish, hehehe.
