Handmade Wedding Invitation

July 16th, 2009

I’ve been busy preparing for my cousin’s wedding invitation this past few days… scouting for materials and come up with lots of design concepts until I finally got the combination of what it takes for a presentable invitation. I’m glad that when I showed the mock up of the wedding invitation to my cousin, she easily appreciate it and her friends too… it inspires me the more to continue working on it.. hehe..

a quick preview to my cousin's wedding invitation - not finished yet.

My objective is to create a wedding invitation with a personal touch, and below is my basic steps to finish this project:

  1. Research. I do research and read some articles on how to create a good wedding invitation.
  2. Design Studies. I do not have to stick to one design only but to gather lots of designs from the net and even in the wedding shops around the mall… I don’t like to carbon copy the designs I saw from the magazines, internet and stores, instead I use them as a pattern for me to innovate.
  3. Final Design. After I gather all the designs that passed my concepts, I come up with a combined innovative wedding invitation product base on my theme and my cousin’s preferences of course.
  4. Canvass Materials. I got my final design mock up on hand, now it’s time for me to canvass to different paper shops to scout for materials that I need… ribbons, papers, beads, etc…
  5. Costing. I go back to my table and compare notes, these are the prices and material details I gathered during my canvassing of materials… here, i got an exact idea as to how much my wedding invitation cost. This step helps me not to over purchased materials that I don’t need and mind the budget. (my cousin has a limited budget and I have to respect it, so this is hardwork and challenging.. hehe)
  6. Purchase Materials. Since I now have the idea of how much it cost and how many pieces of papers, ribbons and beads I need, then I can shop easily.
  7. Wedding Invitation Work In Progress. Now I got to the final activity and that is to convert my mock up to a final wedding invitation!  Exciting!

I love doing stuffs like this and even if my cousin give me a very limited time to work on her wedding invitation, I don’t find it a problem instead I enjoyed it… all with a personal touch… ;)

Bachelor Party

July 9th, 2009

I will be joining a bachelor’s party tomorrow night and it gets me excited because it is my first time to finally join this kind of party and I believe there will be so much fun! It is a surprise party organized by all managers to the COO of the company and yes, he is getting married next week! There are lots of bachelor party tips in the net but tomorrows party does not follow any usual rules and tips, instead we all agreed to just have so much fun in the company’s staff house… a night full of fun and lots of drinking!

I always declined bachelor party invitation before that I also even disagreed when my hubby asked me to have his own stag party a week before our wedding day. Why? Simply because I don’t like the usual bachelor party activities especially if it involves stripped woman in front of your soon-to-be husband… hehe, I know I sound so impossible and conservative. In other word there are good and bad things inside a bachelor’s party and thereafter.

But this will be a different occasion, shall I say it’s wholesome but I’m sure there will be some mild naughty games and trivia for the soon to be groom, haha…, I’m ok with lots of drinking and lots of dancing and swimming in the pool… and at the end of the day we call it our own version of Bachelor Party we could offer for the groom.

Wedding Countdown

July 7th, 2009

When my cousin pop me a message this afternoon that she is getting married very soon, i can’t help but feel so excited especially that she tasked me to do her wedding invitation! I accepted it without any hesitations since I love to do it for her and simply love doing wedding stuffs like this. I am happy that she finally decided to settle down and tie the knot, this is one of the occasion I’ve been waiting for this year! Time is running fast so I need to canvass materials and scout different designs and come up with the final concept of her wedding invitation as soon as possible… and i thought of going to Ayala tonight.

I’m excited because this will make me do wedding stuffs again and occasions like this makes me reminisce those days I personally prepared my own wedding, and it was such a rewarding experience. I am starting the countdown now towards the big and special event of my cousin’s love story… an occasion that the whole family is waiting for.

Anniversary

June 4th, 2009

flowersAnniversary is one of the special occasions that can be celebrated in commemoration of a past event that occurred on the same day of the year as the initial event. The degree of what to commemorate makes this occasion worth to celebrate, and this is what I want to ponder now.

I checked my planner this morning and it reminds me that today is our anniversary as young couple… you know, the thing we call each other girlfriend or boyfriend… :) But sometimes, guys does not recognized this occasion, but it is important for most women. When I greeted him first with the thought that he forgot, I beamed when he asked if we are going to celebrate 2 anniversaries as a couple and that he is quite confused because he only marked the wedding anniversary, haha… well, maybe I am just too corny tagging and commemorating these 2 dates that linked us.

But at the end of the day, I still wanted to celebrate it even with a simple dinner and greeting e-cards… and I shouldn’t expect something special from him in return. For me this kind of anniversary is special, because if it weren’t for this day, no wedding anniversary will follow. :)

The Wedding – Ms. Judy Ann Santos now Mrs. Agoncillo

April 29th, 2009
What a beautiful couple on their Wedding Day!

What a beautiful couple on their Wedding Day!

I am one of the silent and big fan of Juday since I saw her in Mara Clara and even my mom like her so much, hehe… and the more I admire her now when I read the early news in the net that she finally tied the knot yesterday morning away from publicity!

I appreciate their idea of surprising the public about their wedding day and chose to celebrate the occasion solemnly and intimately with just close friends, relatives and family members. Indeed Mr. and Mrs. Agoncillo value the sacrament of Matrimony so much and I am happy to know that. Judy Ann looks very beautiful in the photo I got and I love the gown and the overall simplicity of her aura during this most special occasion in her life.

I have so much to say just to express how I admire this actress so much but it might be a long post already. One thing that inspires me about Juday is her humility and simplicity even how big her achievements already – from showbiz career to business to culinary education, lovelife, then now to married life. For me, she looks more and more beautiful each day and Ryan is such a lucky man!

Congratulations to the newly wed beautiful couple!

A fully packed Occasion

February 14th, 2009

This is our Valentine Lunch Date with my favorite dishes; pancit, baked scallops and fish fillet

This is our Valentine Lunch Date with my favorite dishes; pancit, baked scallops and fish fillet

This year’s 14th of February is the most complete and hectic occasion listed in my planner compared the previous years. First is I’m able to convince my parents to visit me at home and celebrate Valentine’s day with me, so they stayed over the weekend. Second, my husband unexpectedly offered me a lunch date in Grand Majestic, so even how hectic our schedule is, we still manage to spend time alone with each other. And the third activity in my list is to attend the Wedding of my friend Christie in the afternoon, if it isn’t because of the rain, it is supposed to be a Beach Wedding.

My friend’s wedding is significant to me because, it is on this occasion where I am reminded of how beautiful love is and thanking God for giving me the chance to experience the beauty of married life. I can see how my friend radiates her angelic smile while walking the aisle towards her soon to be partner in life, it is palpable from that look that she is so in love and I am happy for her.

I remember the old days where Christie and I used to chat and exchange stories of our sad experiences with our ex-boyfriends… we sometimes expressed sad emotions then laughed at it. But gone are those days because finally, we found the right man’s embrace.

It’s an exhausting day for me, but it is an occasion full of love.
